Why is adding sulfur to soil good for tomato plants ?

I was told it keeps the leaves from curling and keeps the bugs away. Truth or baloney? Does it change the taste of the tomatoes?

I've never heard of sulfur helping with the curling of the leaves and keeping the bugs away but it is worth a try.

I have heard that you need to give them calcium and it will prevent tomato rot.

Best way to get better tasting tomatoes is to stop feeding them 2-3 weeks before they are about to ripen.
