Pruning tomato plants, will they bush out more if i snip the top/main limb?
Yes they will. Just be sure not to "sucker" them. Some people may advise this to you but that will defeat the purpose. Just cut the top out of them just before they get to the height that you want them to be.
Chances are you will not get more fruit but it may depend on the variety you are growing.

Reply:If you prune the terminal buds (the buds on the tip) your tomato plants should "branch out" more. But you won't necessarily get more fruit. Use a good flowering fertilizer to get lots of blooms, and then make sure your tomatoes have plenty of light, warmth, and good, well fertilized soil to support those blooms. If you want earlier, bigger fruit you can "sucker" your tomato, or prune out some of the side shoots around the leaf nodes. You'll actually get fewer fruit, but the plant can dedicate more energy to each fruit it does bear, so you'll get bigger, better developed fruit.
Reply:My tomato plants got taller year after year as shade from both my neighbors and my trees got taller. The less sun they get the more spindly the became. I can no longer even have a veggie garden in my yard. I do not know if this is the case in your situation but ensure them full sunlight and fertilize them with a product like super bloom.

However, in addition to that if you want more fruit, you need to pinch off the sucker branches-that is the ones which have very few flowers, or no flowers. This increases fruit production, and improves the overall health of the plant.
Reply:yes from horticulture experience you can trim back the limbs of tomato plants and they will stay a certain size and your fruit will be bigger and better tasting.
