What could this bug be hanging out around our tomato plants?

It looks like a four legged gray spider. It's rear end arches upward into a hook shape. It comes out in the evenings when the spiders, mesquitos and other nightime bugs start showing up.

I'm intersted to know if it is a tomato's friend or foe.

Web site references would be appriciated as well.

Could be a type of assasin bug called the wheel bug.

They are beneficial insects that feed on aphids and caterpillars.

Do a goodle image search for wheel bug to see if you agree.
Reply:It's probably a scorpion. pick it up and if it stings you and you die it was. It probably is there toeat the other bugs.
