Can a tomato plant and cactus live in the same pot?

I don't know how but a tomato plant has spouted in the pot. I did use some compost of my dads to bed the cactus so it may have been a loose seed. But i was wondering if they would compete and not live in the same environment

Can a tomato plant and cactus live in the same pot?
Tomato plants need a lot of water. Cactus needs a soaking every few months. So they're not exactly compatible.

A tomato plant is an annual. They've come to the end of the season in the UK, so don't expect it to last very long.
Reply:They won't be happy together, I suspect. A cactus doesn't require NEARLY as much water as a tomato plant. I'd remove the tomato plant, unless you're bound and determined to raise tomatoes.
Reply:Yes, no problem. You might get prickly tomatoes though!!
Reply:A tomato plant and a cactus have entirely different requirements.

For example, tomato plants need plenty of water and a specific type of fertilizer. Cactus cannot tolerate what tomatoes need.

You could transplant the tomato to a large pot, put it in full sun. It's the end of the growing season for tomatoes, though.

JUDGE'S JUNGLE
Reply:No, the tomato will die out die to the lack of moisture, or if you are watering it you will likely kill the catus.
Reply:They are too different to live in the same pot. Besides the fact they have different necessities of water and sun, they need different soil. More than that, the tomatoes are quite demanding, and they will consume a lot, letting the soil pretty poor. Cactus plants are very resistant , so it might eventually work, but I wouldn't do that, for the sake of the both plants.
