What is happening to my tomato plant?

I am growing tomatoes for the first time, and so far the plants look healthy and have born some good fruit. Our weather has been extremely hot and then for the past few evenings it has rained a little. Yesterday afternoon, the plants all looked great. Then when I went out today, the stems and leaves of about 1/3 of one of the plants had turned a sickly yellow. Just that quickly! Please help me!

There's one simple solution at this point. Rain doesn't always do the trick. I would start by watering every 2-3 days. Now I don't do vegetables anymore, just trees and shrubs. But water is the key to everything. Even on cloudy rainy days we have the sprinklers on at work, and i water my own shrub/tree yard on rainy days. But be careful of overwatering, tomatoes don't need excessive watering. I believe you would be safe with drenching the soil every 2-3 days. best thing is just keep an eye on them, if the soil is dry or the healthy leaves look kinda crispy, water them. If they continue to turn yellow, its a bigger problem and they probably won't survive and you'll most likely have to start over. But my best guess without seeing them I'd say they're drying out. Hope that helps and good luck to you.
Reply:It probably is the plant growing too fast for it's own good, as the post above said.
Reply:Sometimes plants grow too quickly and dont have enough strength. Yellow sounds like deficiency in nitrogen. Hope you get better advice than mine!
