Can you help me save my tomato plant from too much water?

I am sure that my potted tomato plant got too much water. It rained pretty hard for a couple of hours or so, two days in a row. Is there any way to save it now? Its looking very wilted. . . It was just starting to bear fruit, and had one little green tomato on it. :(

Can you help me save my tomato plant from too much water?
Don't worry, a few sunny days and it should be just fine. Tomato plants a pretty tough. Just let it dry out in the sun and it will pop back up in no time.
Reply:drain it by digging a gully
Reply:if it is waterlogged it must be in a pot with no drainage. Try making holes so some water can escape
Reply:stand in ur plant field, protect ur tomato with ur umbrella opend, dont move when it showering. and if it has too much water, u know the oposite is the remedy, open a fire in the field. if it still not working, try to bring these babies indoors, and dont forget to leave the umbrella open, yea? gurentee it works.

Reply:Next time grow them in pots, with drainage holes. Simple.
Reply:Tap the pot off and place the soil in the tumble dryer. best to do this on it's own as it may get a little messy.
Reply:yes kill it then it will not need water
Reply:Get it inside and then look up Tomato Mania.com you will find a wealth of information and fun. I think you might be in the same area as I because it has rained here big time for the last 2 nights beats the heat though. Anyway last year I gave away tomatos by the bushel had such a good year but this year it has just been bad. I planted heirlooms that did nothing, So will try again next year. Its time to plant cool weather veggies lettuce, and squash some say cucumber but I don't know. Your plant may be in shock don't water at all, give it plenty of light try grow bulbs keep away from drafts and good luck.
Reply:They should be ok--just let them dry out thoroughly, which in a pot should not take too long.
Reply:Just let them dry out. Also, you need to feed your tomato plants:

some plant food. They will grow bigger and stronger, and bear more flower buds. (miracle grow for veggies-the stake kind is best. Just push them down into the potted plants every 3-4 weeks)
Reply:if it's in a pot, change the pot and it will dry out.
Reply:You could try soaking up some of the water.
Reply:Repot the plant . You can remove the soaked soil and replace It with dry. Careful not to damage the root system.
Reply:Too much water wont be a prob considering the heat we've had and if too much water was a prob you'd have blossom end ot (dark blots on the base of the tom). Keep the toms in sun with moist (not wet) compost. Heat can cause wilting so could be that...Could be cold in the night as not sure where you are...Hang in there!
Reply:does the pot have a drain hole in it for the water to come out? Also make sure there is no saucer under the pot until the soil dries out. If you do these two things more than likely your plant will be fine. Also the rain beating on the plant may have made it look wilted if that is the case as long as the branches aren't all broke it will be fine. To much water usually turns the leaves yellow.
Reply:If it's looking wilted it more than likely hasn't had enough water. They need loads in hot weather... often twice daily. Too much water won't make it wilt but will cause the tomatoes to split
Reply:can not get too much water. more likely the sun is too strong. shade the leaves
