I have a tomato. and a pot and sand and i want to plant it and make a tomato plant? so pls help me?
First cut the tomatoe in have and squeeze out the seeds into a cup. put about 1/2 cup of water in the cup with seeds and let that ferment for about a week stirring the scum twice daily. After a week clean the goo off the seeds in a strainer and let dry on a coffee filter or piece of cloth for 10 days out of direct sunlight. Now the seeds are ready for planting

Go out and buy potting soil mix and use the sand for something else as sand is a poor medium for starting and growing tomatoes in-not enough nutrients plus it drains water too easily). Open the bag of potting mix and put a bit into a dixie cup or egg carton section and put a couple ofseeds in the cup filled with potting soil. Cover the cup with a bit of plastic (like from a trash bag) and put on top of your fridge. Check morning and evening for germination. When you seed a green sprout (might be yellow, this is OK) it is time to transplant into your pot filled with potting soil, not sand. Simply fill the pot with potting soil within 2" of the rim, scoop. Turn the container your seedling is in and carefully dump seedling and soil out of the cup and put all that in the pot making sure the seedling is buried up to it's leaves. put all that under a light that can be adjusted so it is never touching the plant but never more than 3" away. Florecents work better than incandescents because the latter will burn the leaves. keep the light on for at least 14 hours a day. Don't be tempted to use a sunny window because there is not enough light from that source and the tomato plant will reach for the light and become leggy and weak.

One note, the tomato you bought at the store is likely an F1 Hybrid and that means the plant you get likely will not grow tomatoes that are like the one you bought. The seeds will grow but because F1 hybrids can have up to 4 different parents the offspring generally show the traits of one of the parents and not the plant the seed came from. For true to type tomatoes buy a packet of seeds. but if you like a good mystery grow from the seeds you have.
Reply:Try this:

1) Let the tomato dry out in sun; let the seeds dry out too.

2) Tomato seeds will germinate in anything as long as the seeds get moisture and warmth.

3) After seed germinate to seedlings pot them in larger containers or garden.

4) When seedlings are transplanted sand alone will not suffice. You will need to enrich your soil with compost.

5) From here on sunlight, water and good soil are the needs of the tomato plant.
Reply:Step one, throw it out.

Step two, buy a package of seeds.

Step three. put some dirt in the pot.

Step four. place the seed in the pot about 1/4" below the surface

Step five. Water and cover with a piece of plastic wrap.

Step six. When it starts to grow, remove the plastic and put it into the sun.

Step six. Wait.

You will never have any luck getting a good tomato from a store bought tomato. They aren't, usually, the same as the one you ate.
Reply:I wouldn't use sand to start with, but the tomato, I would use maybe a quarter, dry it out, put it in pot with seed raising mix, keep moist, and after a couple of weeks ,you will/ should have sprouts coming up. If you have garden space, I would separate these sprouts after a week or 2, replant them in garden, with good soil, in majority sun. Once they start growing you will need to put some posts up to tie the bushes too, individually. fertilise, watch them grow, then eat, yummy.
