It sounds like you may have an opportunity to experiment and develop something on your own since no one seems to have a ready answer. It is possible that there is some obscure reference to some old way of using tomatoe plants as a pest deterrent. A Yahoo search for "organic garden pest control" (include the quotation marks in the search box) yields 3,110 results. If you do the same search, and are willing to spend a little time exploring, you may get lucky and find the information you seek.

Good luck with your search.
Reply:Tomato plants are a close cousin to nightshade. I can't imagine that the chopped plant is good for anything.
Reply:use a tobacco tea, use cigars, cigarettes, i use chewing the cheapest i can find. one pouch in an old panty hose or sock with 3 to 5 gallons of water. good for fleas on dogs too if you can get them to stay in the tub. lol
Reply:its chopped tobacco plant,or take a few cigarettes or the butts and make a 'tea" and a tbsp of dish detergent.in a gallon of water. it needs to be applied after every rain and /or once a week to the top of the leaves and underneath the leaves too. I would also spray around the base of the plant too, to run off anything lurking there.
Reply:Well, considering that there are grasshoppers and tomato worms on my tomato plants, I seriously DOUBT that just by chopping them finely would keep bugs away! Try cayenne pepper juice. YUMMY!
