What do you do for young tomato plants indoors--they're under a foot tall and sit on a sunny window sill...

Want to move them to bigger containers--now what???

dear truthseeker

buy bigger pots and be sure to get soil suitable for containers. if you are going to keep them inside then be careful when transplanting. if you are moving them outside for good in a container brake them in gradually like a couple hours then ease them into longer sun hours. be sure to allow for drainage make sure your new pots have holes in em.tomatoes love acidic soil so you could buy acid loving plant food pour your soil into the bigger pot, wet soil and make a hole about the size of your root ball loosen root ball and set inside the new hole if your gonna stake them up set the stake in now to avoid future root damage
Reply:They need to be outside in full sun. Transplanting them may put them into shock or kill them. Loosen the dirt around the edge of the container and place into a larger container with potting soil. Good luck.
