What type of callipillars eat tomato plants?

Common Name: Tomato hornworm


Scientific Name: Manduca quinquemaculata (Haworth)


Order: Lepidoptera





Description: Caterpillars can reach 3 to 4 inches in length, are green with prominent diagonal white stripes along the sides of the body and a black-colored "horn" on the back end.





One of the photograph is from my tomato garden and i saw these green caterpillars. they have been annoying me whole summer and the have big appetite !!

Those aren't caterpillars. I believe those are aphids (maybe not, but those bugs destroy the leaves of the plants, and lay eggs in the soil which hatch and eat the roots) If you have them, it's best to use an insecticide. Make sure to wash your tomatoes before you eat them.
