Can tomato plants re-root?

I accidentally "broke" my tomato plant I've been growing when I replanted it. The roots snapped off the bottom and I still planted it. Can it survive or should I just buy one and give up?

Can tomato plants re-root?
the "hairs" on the stem will turn into roots, if you bury it deep enough, remember to clip off the lowest branches, water alot, and keep it protected. you might add a little miracle grow to the water to help it along
Reply:My son recently stepped then landed on our tomato plant, he broke it off at the base. I tried everything to help it survive but needless to say it died, give it a couple of days and be sure to water it, if it starts to wilt then I would give up. Ours died and we had to replace it.
Reply:I do not believe that the plant will survive. You should just go out and buy a new plant from a garden center so you will be able to eat tomatos this summer.
