I have two nice beef steak tomato plants with lots of blossoms, but no tomatos yet, why?

Tomatoes will develop where the flowers are now, but only once the flowers have been fertilised/pollinated.

If there are bees and other insects visiting the flowers, they will transport pollen from flower to flower (which fertilises the flowers); but if the plants are inside somewhere, get a paint brush and gently "tickle" each of the flowers in turn (with the same brush). This will fertilise them, and hopefully you'll get lots of tomatoes!

Where are you? Beef steak tomato plants are a later season variety. I grow them every year. It must be warm where you are because we can't even plant ours yet - too cool. We will be able to plant in a couple of weeks.

Something to keep in mind is that flowers don't automatically turn into tomatoes. Something usually a bee has to cross pollinate them. I grew some years ago on my balcony and cross pollinated them with a q tip.

Be patient, it will be worth the wait.
Reply:It's too early. When you set out tomato plants that are meant to be harvested later, they will put out blossoms early. But, these will not develop fruit for awhile. If you set out an early variety (like Early Girl), they will set out early blooms and then immediately begin to fruit.

Like someone else said, have patience. You shouldn't be getting your first harvest until June or July.
Reply:It helps to shake the plants. Tomatoes need the motion of a little wind to help them with pollination. Contrary to the previous posters, the only insect that pollinates tomatoes lives only in Central America, so tomatoes in the US are dependent on the wind bringing pollen from nearby plants.
Reply:They might need pollination. You should plant some other flowers around the garden to attract bees so the blossoms get pollinated and turn out fruit.
Reply:Needs more time, or possibibly more sunshine, water, fertilizer and staking
Reply:It takes time.

Don't forget to water.
Reply:you just need to hold out, just need more time
Reply:it's only the beginning of May... =P
Reply:give it more time if not u have all male blooms
