I have little red bugs on my tomato plants. Will they hurt the plants and how should I get rid of them?

Not sure what the bugs are from the description, but put a little dish soap in a spray bottle with water and mist your plants. The soap will kill the bugs without harming the fruit.

Are they hemispherical beetle-looking things with tiny black dots? If so, they are lady bugs and they eat aphids - you definitely want these little guys around your garden, the more the merrier.

The most common enemy to tomatoes plants are tomatoe worms, 1-2 inches in length, green, and with a little red horn on their heads. You have to inspect and pluck them pretty much daily.
