This usually occurs when the plant doesn't quite receive enough moisture for a while, and then suddenly receives a LOT of water. It's particularly common after it has rained heavily. To prevent it, make sure your tomato plants stay evenly moist, and don't allow the soil to dry out.
I have nice tomato plants but the tomato has deep split in the top of them what is the cause thanks?
uneven or sporadic watering . Plant gets wet then is flooded with water causing splits
Reply:the usual cause of tomatoes splitting is too much water!! If you are watering the garden, try to let the tomatoes dry out a bit more. If it is raining too much, nothin much you can do about it.
Reply:water stress...try mulching your tomatoes so as to keep certain amount of moisture from evaporating from the soil.
