What can be done about white flys on tomato plants?

You can use an insecticidal soap that you can get at any hardware store, or make your own out of dish soap and water (1 tbsp in a spray bottle) Another option is Neem oil, (sometime available at hardware stores, I get it online for cheaper) Make sure you spray the top and bottom of the leaves and the ground! 1 time will not work........... they lay eggs and hatch every couple of days so you may have to spray several time no matter what you use. All my options are organic.... you can also go buy a pesticide but then who would want the tomatos...

Sun spray oil is another alternative, then put a piece of yellow sticky paper near the plants - this will moniter future population problems
Reply:i use bubbles (the kind you buy for the kids) in a spray bottle and then sprinkle hot (red) pepper all over them....it not only rids pests but also keeps animals from eating them

when i pick them i put them in a colander and rinse them really well with the water hose before bringing them in
Reply:Spray a light oil on them (like canola) . . cover the bottom of the plant leaf w. it %26amp; they will go away
