Would my tomato plants grow better if they are exposed to light at night.?

No. Your tomatoes need sunshine to make them grow. Light at night would only make the greenery grow. You would have lots of green leaves and no tomatoes. One of the best way to grow tomatoes is to actually have no light. I said sunshine, but what tomatoes love is heat. My old friend showed me a trick. He would stake tomato plants, wait until they had started climbing stake(strong growth) and then cover them all with heavy black plastic sheeting(from garden center). Result- tomatoes went crazy. Flowered and flowered and he got heaps. Also keeps wind off them. Maybe you don't get wind in your season? Good Luck!

no
Reply:Get a sun lamp for night time.
Reply:no they need sun light
Reply:maybe, but why not give them a rest -we all need that!
Reply:Provide lots of light, but not all night.

Tomato seedlings will need either strong, direct sunlight or 14-18 hours under grow lights.

Place the young plants only a couple of inches from florescent grow lights. Plant your tomatoes outside in the sunniest part of your vegetable plot.
