How much nitrate soda to use in fertilization of tomato plants?

Just use a 17-17-17 when you plant. This is a great balance. About every 3 weeks, put a quart of liquid fertilizer ( about a table spoon per gallon of water). Peter's is the best I've found. Be sre to have plenty of lime in your soil to prevent black ends on your tomatoes. Good Luck.

I would suggest that you not use nitrate of soda. This is a nitrogen only fertilizer and vegetables also require phosphorus, potassium and trace nutrients to be productive. Fertilizers are labeled with Nitrogen (N) Phosphorus (P) and Potassium (K). The best fertility for tomatoes or vegetables would have a 1-2-1 or 1-1-1 ratio. Example 6-12-6 0r 6-6-6. Nitrate of soda is 16-0-0 and may lead to lots of growth and few tomatoes. Tomatoes require even watering. Too much water will leach calcium resulting in blossom end rot and possibly cracking of the skin of the tomato. Too little water causes wilting, poor blossom set and low production. Purchase a fertilizer labeled tomato fertilizers for best results. Consult your local nursery for advice on your area for tomato and vegetable garden care. Climate always impacts cultural practices such as planting times, fertilizer applications and watering for tomatoes and vegetables.
Reply:you want to a soil ph of 5.5-7.0

anything more than that and your plants will just grow more leaves and less fruit
