Should I hose frost off my tomato plants or does that make the situation worse?

The frost has already damaged the plant. It does sound like your growing season is just about over, but if this frost is unusual or you just have too many tomatoes to give up, i would suggest covering your plants at night. Use something light weight, even newspaper would do the trick. Make sure you take whatever you are using off in the morning, if you don't, there will a whole new problem. When you water, make sure you are watering at the base of the plant only.

Should I hose frost off my tomato plants or does that make the situation worse?
yes hose off the frost
Reply:Yes, and do it quickly! The water evaporating will raise the temp just enough to protect the fruit and foliage (if t's not too hard a frost).

Why didn't you cover them last night?
Reply:You can hose off the frost damage, but you can leave it either, if you have bactericide apply it to heal quicker the wounds and to prevent further light frosts....
Reply:Yes hosing the frost off of your plants is fine but do it before the sun hits them or your going to have a bunch of dead plants to wash the frost off of. Good Luck
Reply:I should think that frost on your plants would signal the end of the growing season. Pick the maters and enjoy.

Fried green tomatoes are good!
Reply:If you are only get frost at night you could try covering the plants with a plastic shopping bag in the evening and uncovering them in the morning.
