When should I plant my tomato plants? Thanks!?

I wanted to plant a small garden! This is my first year. Because I finally have my own house, and yard! Except I am not sure,of the proper time? It may sound dumb,if so I am sorry. However,I am not an experienced gardner. I have been reading up on it online, though. Anyhow, I was just wondering if any of you had any good tips? Thanks!

I start most of mine from seed in a seedling tray. I have just transferred several to three inch peat pots and when they start getting to big for these, I plant them out side. If you purchased plants that were already in 3-6 inch pots, they are probably ready now. I have put out plants until mid to late summer before and they did fine. We just had tomatoes a lot longer! It works good if you can make the row or rows where you're going to plant them mounded up a few inches and leave yourself room to get between them to pick the tomatoes as they ripen. You may want to treat your yard around (but not right next to or on) your plants with something like Ortho Max to keep worms and such away from them. Cut worms will attack and eat the up. Sevin Dust or Sevin Spray is something you can put directly on the plants, but follow the directions and don't put too much. Good luck with your garden!
Reply:Depends on where you live. Mine have been in the ground for over a month. But some places are still getting snow. Just be sure to wait until the last freeze. Depends on where you live.
Reply:Usually around the first of May or after the seasons last frost. If your weather has been mild already you can go with the later part of April. This would mostly depend on what zone you live in. It could be slightly earlier if you live in a warmer zone.
Reply:Usually the first week of April
Reply:Depends on where you live too. I planted 2 weeks ago and already have 2-3" sprouts! But generally speaking, get them in the ground today.
