Will black walnut trees kill tomato plants?

Black walnut trees will kill EVERYTHING planted near them, and for about 10 feet around

Will black walnut trees kill tomato plants?
Not outright kill, but tomatoes won't grow/produce well near black walnut trees.
Reply:Walnut trees produce a toxin which I understand is somewhat like Roundup. They do this so that the strongest tree can grow the biggest and get rid of any competition. If you look around the base of walnut trees, not even much grass can grow.
